Can you test a parachute?

Class 10 had a great afternoon creating parachutes which, they then dropped from a height (one and a half metres) and timed the fall. This then tested the forces, Gravity and air resistance. The children were then able to conclude their findings in their books.

Learning Walk

Last Friday class 10, took a lovely learning walk around the classroom. Along this walk the children stumbled across information that informed them about the Anglo-Saxon burrial site found at Sutton Whoo, along with information about Anglo-Saxon beliefs and other interesting facts. The children were able to read the information themelves and fill in a grid, asking them questiions about the text they were reading. The children throughly enjoyed this activity and learnt a lot of new facts about Anglo- Saxon life.

Can you feel the force?

Class 10 have been exploring the new learning challenge 'can you feel the force?' Can you spot the force they are measuring?... Yes you guessed it they are measuring gravity using the unit of newtons. The children explored the weight of different objects in and around the classroom. They are great fun and learnt a lot about forces. Sir Isaac Newton... Watch out.

Knowsley Safari Innovation Project

On Wednesday the 3rd of October, class 10 were invited to take part in the Knowsley Safari innovation project. The children have been placed into groups of 5, in order to develop a new attraction/public walk around-area, at Knowsley Safari park. The area they are to develop is 13,000 metres squared, it has to be animal linked and is aimed at children aged 11-16. The children have been working hard all this week to make their prototype, in order for it to be judged on the 15th of October.
