Theme Day: Give or get - which is best?
Class 11 enjoyed a day off timetable yesterday as we thought about our Christmas Theme Day. The question this year was 'Give or Get - which is best?' We discussed giving and receiving gifts at Christmas and the types of gifts we could give that don't cost any money. The children made decorations for our school Christmas tree with the gifts on they would like to give or receive this Christmas. We also did a Secret Santa, so all children gave a gift and received a gift. The children created some very personal gifts for their classmates.

Guess Who

Guess Who
In year 6 we have been learning about expanded noun phrases. The children really enjoyed playing a version of 'Guess Who' to help them use noun phrases.
For example, the children would ask, "Are you thinking of the red-haired lady with a purple hat and purple glasses?"
We then included some expanded noun phrases in our writing.

Who has the largest lung capacity?
In science we are learning about the heart and lungs. We did an exciting experiment to see who had the largest lung capacity. As well as working together in their teams and having fun, the children discussed how to make the test fair and were able to see if their predictions were correct!

Word Hunt

Word Hunt
It is important the children leave year 6 being able to spell as many words from the word list as possible. To support their learning they went on a word hunt today and enjoyed correcting the mistakes in the words.
