No Pens Day Wednesday

We loved taking part in No Pens Day Wednesday as part of Dyslexia Awareness Week. For one day only, pencil cases were banned in the classroom as we worked together in speaking and listening activities. In our SPaG lesson we played Guess Who using adjectives and descriptive vocabulary to describe celebrities, literary characters and members of staff. We then created an audio commentary analysing the characters of Carl and Ellie in the film 'Up' for our English lesson. The no pens fun continued in Maths as we revised co-ordinates and problem solving strategies by playing a game of Battleships. The children also enjoyed No Pens Wednesday during Mrs Guile's lessons as they used instruments in their music lesson and role play in Science. A very enjoyable day for us all.

A visit from Glenys

We had a wonderful day yesterday when Glenys visited our class. She read 'The Tiny Tax Collector' to us, discussed 'The Lions Who Lost Their Lunch' and answered our questions about her life and book. We found out some interesting information; for example Glenys has three grandchildren, she is writing a Christmas love letters book and her favourite film is Paddington! Glenys also appreciated the lovely poster that Ema had made for her.

In the afternoon, we decorated some fairy cakes to make them look like lions. We made an extra two for Glenys and her husband David and they loved them!

It really was a wonderful day. Thank you Glenys.
