St Helens Adult Learning Awards
Last night we attended the St Helens Adult Learning Awards in the Town Hall. We are proud to say that one of our parents, Mark Holland, was awarded the Family Learning Learner of the Year award. Mark fought off stiff competition from parents from other schools across borough. He was awarded the honour for his contribution to his sons' learning and supporting the learning of other children during our Family Learning sessions. Congratulations Mark!

PGL

PGL
I was fortunate enough to accompany the Y5/6 children on the annual PGL adventure holiday to Boreatton Park in Shropshire. The children had an amazing experience and I was really impressed with the way they tackled the challenging activities they faced. Their attitude and behaviour were exemplary. I would like to thank all the staff involved who gave up their time to ensure that the trip was a success.

A Wonderful Gesture

A Wonderful Gesture
We are extremely proud of Megan, Mia and Charlie for their wonderful donation to charity during the Easter break. The three girls decided they would chop off their long hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

This is what the girls had to say about it:
‘We, as sisters, decided we would get our hair cut short for a cancer trust, so they can make wigs for children just like us. We have had a few relatives who have passed away after fighting cancer which makes us sad. However, we are pleased to know our hair has been made into at least 3 or 4 wigs because of how long it was. We are very happy with our short hair and we hope the children will enjoy their wigs. We also hope to inspire others to do the same.’

Well done girls!
See www.littleprincesses.org.uk for more information on the charity.

Designing and making our own Ancient Egyptian pyramids

Designing and making our own Ancient Egyptian pyramids
Today we enjoyed answering our Learning Challenge question 'How can you recreate the wonder of the pyramids?' We designed a floor plan for the base of our pyramid then created a net for the faces of the pyramid. We then created and decorated our pyramids. They are still a work in progress and we are hoping to finish them tomorrow. Watch this space for our final designs!
