PSHCE
At Sutton Oak, our intent is to equip all children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to support their journey into adulthood—focusing on health, wellbeing, and their understanding of the wider world.
We aim for our pupils to develop the confidence to communicate effectively and to build and nurture positive relationships within their families, school, and the wider community. Our role is to support the development of each child’s personal identity, helping them to appreciate the value of others and to celebrate the differences that make each person unique.
Key areas of focus include the development of leadership and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to listen and empathise with others. Through open and supportive classroom discussions, we help pupils recognise when they may need support and empower them with the confidence to seek it.
While PSHE is taught as a discrete subject, its principles are embedded and applied throughout the wider curriculum. Through this holistic approach, we all pupils with the lifelong skills necessary to play an active, informed, and positive role in society.
