Printing Workshop

On Thursday 20th April we were very lucky to have local artist Laura-Kate Pontefract visit our classes for the day. Laura-Kate gave us a screen printing demonstration and we all had the chance to create our very own screen prints. Laura-Kate also taught us about relief printing. We designed our own print taking inspiration from nature, and sketched this out in our sketchbooks. We then transferred our design to our foam sheet using our fingers and pencils to carefully etch out the design, without making holes in the foam. We used rollers and spoons to paint our printing template and then create our own prints. Finally we explored printing with a range of natural objects including flowers, leaves and vegetables. It was such an exciting day, we can't wait to try out our new found printing skills again soon!
